My best friend from college, Omar Lopez Chahoud is an international curator.  Every once in a while, he needs to escape the hustle and bustle of major cities and relax.  One of his hideaways is a lovely restaurant in Everglades City called Camellia Street Grill.

Omar fell in love with the charm of the restaurant as well as the talent of restaurant owner/chef Terri L. Rementeria.  Terri grows her own vegetables, herbs and personally cleans the fresh catch of the day in her kitchen for all to see. 

After Art Basel, Omar and I went down to have some quality time together and had Terri treat us to an amazing tasting of the following:

• Sauteed Gator with fresh ginger, cilantro and home dried herbs

• Grilled corn on the cob seasoned with thyme and coriander

• Grilled pineapple with orange marmalade and hot pepper flakes

• Fresh organic herb and greens salad from "on site" garden

• Freshly made she-crab soup with grilled corn and veggies and fresh sauteed blue crab from the Thousand Islands

• Fresh caught cleaned on site for all the real honest to goodness fresh grouper pan seared with the house special sour orange reduction

I highly recommend the drive down to Everglades City for this delicious gourmet experience!!
